Terms of service

These terms govern your use of CramShare, whether you are browsing the free library, buying a premium document, or selling your own notes.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, uploading a document or purchasing one, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You may browse public listing pages without an account, and these terms still apply to that browsing.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you believe it has been accessed by someone else.

  • One account per person. Shared accounts may be suspended.
  • Register with accurate details. We may ask you to verify your institution before you can sell.
  • You may close your account at any time. Documents you have already purchased remain available to you for 12 months after closure.

3. Buying documents

Premium documents are sold as a one-time purchase granting you a personal, non-transferable licence to read and download that document for your own study. You may not redistribute, resell or publish it, in whole or in substantial part.

Every document displays a preview before purchase. Buying is confirmation that you have had the opportunity to review it.

Refunds. Because documents are delivered immediately as digital content, the statutory right of withdrawal for digital goods ends once download begins, where the law permits that. Independently of that, we refund any document that:

  • does not substantially match the preview shown;
  • is tagged to a course code, institution or academic year it does not actually cover;
  • is illegible or materially incomplete.

Request a refund from your library within 7 days of purchase. Repeated refund requests across many documents may be reviewed for abuse.

4. Selling documents

You keep ownership and copyright of everything you upload. You grant CramShare a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display, preview and distribute it to buyers for as long as it remains published. This licence ends when you unpublish, except for copies already delivered to buyers.

Nothing here is exclusive. You may publish the same material elsewhere, at any price, at the same time.

Revenue share. You receive 70% of the sale price of each document, paid monthly as described in the payout terms. We will not reduce this share for documents already published without giving you 90 days’ notice and the option to unpublish.

Warranty. By uploading, you confirm the work is yours, that you have the right to license it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or contain personal data belonging to others.

5. Prohibited content and conduct

The following are not permitted and will be removed, with the account suspended for repeat cases:

  • Institutional material you did not create — lecture slides, handouts, readers, exam papers under embargo.
  • Copyrighted third-party work, including scanned or retyped textbook content and solutions manuals.
  • Another person’s work, with or without permission.
  • Material intended to be submitted as the buyer’s own assessed work. See academic integrity.
  • Personal data about identifiable people, including classmates and staff.
  • Manipulating ratings, reviews, unlock counts or search ranking.

Our full acceptance criteria are published in the upload guidelines.

6. Review, removal and appeals

Premium documents are reviewed by a person before listing. We may remove any document, at any time, if it breaches these terms or a valid takedown request is received.

Where we remove content or restrict an account, we will tell you the specific reason and you may appeal by replying to that notice. Appeals are reviewed by someone other than the person who made the original decision.

7. Service availability

We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, and features may change or be discontinued. Where a change materially reduces what you have already paid for, we will offer a pro-rata refund.

8. Liability

CramShare is a marketplace. Documents are created by users, and we do not warrant that any document is accurate, complete or sufficient to pass an assessment. Academic outcomes are your own responsibility.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months, or €100.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email and on this page before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that constitutes acceptance. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without affecting mandatory consumer protections available to you in your country of residence. Disputes may be brought in the courts of Amsterdam or in your local courts where consumer law allows.

Questions about these terms go through contact.
