MXM2 Task 2 – Leadership Skills and Mindset - V2 C1. Leaders and managers, while both integral to the functioning of organizations, embody distinct roles and responsibilities. Leaders are individuals who focus on charting a visionary course for their teams or organizations. They inspire and motivate by articulating a compelling vision and setting long-term objectives. Leaders prioritize people, building strong relationships, and fostering a positive work environment. They thrive on change and innovation, often challenging the status quo to propel the organization towards its goals. Leaders take a long- term perspective, working towards the future success and sustainability of the organization. They inspire by example and instill a sense of purpose. In contrast, managers are primarily concerned with the efficient execution of tasks and processes. They ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly, allocating resources, monitoring progress, and meeting specific short-term goals. Managers are adept at maintaining stability within the organization, seeking predictability and consistency in operations. While they may make decisions that optimize existing systems, their focus tends to be on the immediate and practical aspects of achieving organizational objectives. Managers provide direction and oversight, often relying on authority and control to ensure tasks are completed efficiently. In essence, leaders inspire and guide towards a future vision, while managers oversee and navigate the present to meet established objectives. Successful organizations often benefit from a harmonious blend of effective leadership and skilled management. C2. Three present leadership skills I possess include effective communication, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking. In my practice, I use effective communication by actively listening to my coworkers and patients, ensuring that their concerns are heard, and ideas are considered. I also articulate a clear vision and goals, inspiring my department to work cohesively towards a common objective. My emotional intelligence aids in building strong relationships 2 Downloaded by Clement Sam (samuelkaruiki40@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|6879242
